The Blue Society European Youth Parliament, Brussels, November 2015

European Youth Parliament, Brussels 2015

The Blue Society European Youth Parliament is a group of informed young people, which was brought together from throughout Europe, to debate and discuss current Ocean issues in the context of the Blue Society ideal. Following a period of research and preparation, the members of the youth parliament came together in Brussels on November 17th and discussed practical aspects of implementing the Blue Society.
Together with Ocean experts from their own country and beyond, Youth Parliament delegates outlined their recommendations for a sustainable future.
Ultimately, they were offered a unique opportunity to present their proposals to the Members of the European Parliament during the Sea for Society event, with the EBCD Intergroup on 18th November, 2015.

The Sea for Society project, ended on November 2015, aimed to raise awareness of the vital role of the Ocean in all aspects of human life and to highlight innovative ideas and actions for the future of a society that respects and values the Ocean. The european Youth Parliament was the last event achieved during the project, taking place during the Blue Society Launch Event.
During the Sea for Society project, consultations were undertaken throughout Europe, many with young EU citizens who provided ideas that helped clarify the values of a Blue Society.
Now it is time to go further and mobilize worldwide to build this society. Let’s use current ideas and implement concrete actions for the future!
