Message from the Global Ocean Forum

On this World Oceans Day, we invite you to act on the central role of oceans in sustainable development.

It is essential that a stand-alone SDG on Oceans and Seas be part of the package of 10 or so central global goals. The Global Ocean Forum has articulated the imperative of an SDG on oceans (see the GOF proposal), and at present a significant number of nations (currently 100) and members of civil society are supporting strong action on oceans ( a review of member states statements related to oceans in the SDG process).
