World Ocean Network participates in several international conferences along the year to meet and represent our members.
World Ocean Network is accredited as an observer party to United Nations negotiations and processes regarding climate change, biological diversity and sustainable development, promoting the role of civil society, the importance of education and a Blue Society vision. During such events, we also inform World Ocean Network participants on the negotiations results and whereabouts.
World Ocean Network also participates in science education or other ocean-related events, such as Marine Educators conferences, CommOcean or European Maritime Day, and meetings with other science centers and aquariums such as International Aquarium Congress, ECSITE and ASTC conferences.
World Ocean Network at COP24
World Ocean Network will attend the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Katowice, Poland.
World Ocean Network have participated to the elaboration of the Oceans Day programme and will present on Ocean Education during this day, December 8th.
- Interviews will be filmed during the Conference and a first version of the film will be available very soon on our website
- World Ocean Network will also present the International Aquairum Network Statement to limit global warming.
World Ocean Network display on climate change and coral reef will be visible on the Global Ocean Forum booth.
