Learning About Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction"},"content":{"rendered":"[mk_page_section][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text disable_pattern=&#8221;true&#8221; align=&#8221;left&#8221; margin_bottom=&#8221;0&#8243; title=&#8221;Learning About Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction&#8221;]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction Program (ABNJ) \u2013 often referred to as Common Oceans \u2013 is a broad-scale, innovative approach to achieve efficient and sustainable management of fisheries resources and biodiversity conservation in marine areas that do not fall under the responsibility of any one country.<br \/>\nTo achieve this goal, the Program is comprised of four specific areas of work:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Sustainable management of tuna fisheries &amp; biodiversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Sustainable use of deep-sea living resources &amp; biodiversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Oceans Partnership for sustainable fisheries &amp; biodiversity conservation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Strengthening global capacity to effectively manage ABNJ<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of the GEF\/FAO\/GOF project on Strengthening Global Capacity to Effectively Manage Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commonoceans.org\/strengthening-capacity\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">ABNJ Capacity Project<\/a>), the first issue of the ABNJ:LEARN Newsletter is now <a href=\"https:\/\/globaloceanforumdotcom.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/05\/abnj-learn_nwsltr_issue1_0930141.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">available<\/a>.
