Youth: the Next Wave for Change
Join us, the World Ocean Network and the Ocean Project, in our campaign to give today’s youth a voice.
In anticipation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Conference, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2012, we invite you to organise events and activities involving young people.
Two decades after the Earth Summit, our Network and partners would like to help a new generation to have their say at this UN Conference, which will be attended by heads of state and other stakeholders. Between now and then, we will collect the views and proposals of today’s young people (aged 12 to 25 years) on the question of the oceans and sustainable development.
For Cap Rouge Day, which will be held on World Oceans Day, don’t forget to wear – and promote the wearing of - a red cap, as a symbol of recognition between, and for, ocean lovers everywhere. The red cap is to remind us of Commander Jacques-Yves COUSTEAU, whose birthday anniversary is on June 11.
To contribute to the success of World Oceans Day, we also invite you to send in, as soon as possible, your programmes of activities. Simply complete the online form and send it to info@worldoceannetwork.org . Your programme, and those of other participants, will then be posted.
Wishing you all a very successful World Oceans Day!
