The National Marine Information and Research Center, Swakopmund, in Namibia, was joining the World Oceans Day celebrations this year. An official event in one of the coastal towns on the 8th June was programmed. During the month of June, visits in schools in the coastal regions were done with educational material (posters, bookmarks…).

On a voluntary basis, the students from the Burapha University Fishery Department and professor, Dr. Praparsiri Barnette, had projected a cleanup project on World Ocean Day.
On a voluntary basis, the students from the Burapha University Fishery Department and professor, Dr. Praparsiri Barnette, had projected a cleanup project on World Ocean Day.
They finally decided to start a continual beach cleanup activity and had continued to cleanup the beach ever since. They are planning to cleanup everyday from 5-7, except on days that do not permit availability.
One of the students of this university has initially attended the East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum in the Philippines.

Saint Louis, Missouri, have Oceans of Fun Celebrated World Oceans Day at the World Aquarium on Tuesday, June 8. This year's celebration honored the 50th anniversary of Dr. Seuss' book, "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" Explore the aquarium in Seussian style as you spot fish with zany names and odd shapes. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., kids could turn in an ocean-themed quiz to receive a free fossilized shark tooth, create fishy nametags, go on an aquatic scavenger hunt, and participate in an interactive reading of "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." The Action for the Oceans Day is an Underwater Chat all May and June. The more than 800 visitors every week end can participate in a talk with a Diver, using an underwater communication device. The message is about the Future of the Oceans, the meaning of the Ocean Day.

A long trip along the coasts of Latin America that films events and interviews with the partner structures. Cedepesca with 12 other organisations will share music and celebrations of 14 countries in the 23 stopping-off places of this wonderful trip that includes South American coasts on both Atlantic and Pacific sides.

L’Acuario Nacional de Cuba: A drawing contest for 7-14 year old children, an educational programme for the Cuban TV, cultural activities for children on "What we should protect", a handcraft exhibition, and other thematic exhibitions like "15 years of science days" for children are in the programme of World Oceans Day in Cuba.

El pasado 8 de Junio de 2010, Acuario Mazatlán, festejo por vez primera el “Día mundial de los Océanos”, apoyando la celebración de este día a la Red Mundial de los Océanos.
Con el propósito de continuar impulsando una cultura por el reconocimiento y la importancia de los mares en el funcionamiento de los ecosistemas y la influencia que tienen en la generación de los recursos que explota el ser humano, asistieron 95 niños y niñas de nivel primaria y Jardín de niños, así como 4 maestros, quienes participaron en la conferencia “8 de Junio Día mundial del los Océanos”, impartida por la Biol. Ángeles Cruz Morelos, responsable del Departamento de Educación Ambiental. Posteriormente los escolares participaron en el taller interactivo “Mi Océano”, donde se monto un acuario y se explicaron las principales funciones de los mares como son: olas, mareas, oxigeno y las condiciones adecuadas para la existencia de la vida marina, los niños tuvieron la oportunidad de tocar y conocer animales marinos como estrellas de mar, peces, camarones, tortugas marinas, cangrejos, corales y algas, quienes poco a poco fueron colocados dentro de la pecera, conforme se explicaban aspectos morfológicos y de su hábitat, el taller concluyó reflexionando sobre el daño que desechos plásticos generan al hábitat de las especies. Los cuidados que el ser humano debe tener en las zonas costeras. Se habló de la urgencia de participar en la protección de nuestros mares.
El evento fue transmitido y cubierto por medios televisivos y de radio, dando a conocer a la comunidad la importancia de la celebración para Acuario Mazatlán.

Otra actividad se realizo en paralelo al Día de los Océanos: una exposición de pinturas hechas por niños y jóvenes muy especiales de Casa Down, quienes colaboran con Acuario Mazatlán, el tema "reflejos del mar azul". L’Asociación Para La Conservación De Ambientes Marinos Y Costeros will celebrate World Oceans Day in some high schools of Lima and Tumbes (in the North of Peru). Various activities are planned: from discussion to drawing and poster workshop in public and private high schools. The structure will associate disabled children in the celebration of World Oceans Day. A common report will describe the activities and the exchanges between the different high schools.
The Organization for Research and Conservation of Aquatic Animals - ORCA - is a non-profit organization based in Lima City, Peru, South America, dedicated to reseach, rescue, rehabilitation and release of marine mammals, promoting environmental education and ecological values such as respect to life and love for nature and the conservation of the ocean, our home.
Programme: educational talks to local public and private schools, enhancing creative participation through artistic initiatives (painting, drawing) to express their feeling about the ocean and possible solutions to ocean issue such as platic/chemical pollution, over-exploitation of ocean resources, marine mammal killing, and how to spread the word to conserve the marine environment.
Beach clean up campaign called "Beach Clean: Ocean Alive" with a Multi-district/Multi-School :12 local schools and 10 coastal districts in Lima City on June 8th to honor life in the oceans.
Finally, a national campaign called "De-plastify your Life" is being deploying locally and national wide through the participation of schools in Peru.
ProDelphinus es una organización comprometida con la conservación marina desde su fundación en 1995, y para ello viene trabajando el tema de investigación y educación ambiental en puertos artesanales del Perú.La charla empezó con una breve introducción sobre Jacques Cousteau y su labor por la conservación de los océanos, además del vínculo que representa entre el hombre y el océano. La charla se elaboró utilizando la información proporcionada por el Ocean Info Pack de la Red Mundial del Océano.
Luego, se realizó un concurso de títeres y una obra teatral con los mismos, donde se hable del mar. Con esta actividad no sólo se buscaba generar un espacio donde los estudiantes de 4to año de primaria pudieran aprender acerca del océano de una manera más divertida, sino que también se quería registrar, a través de la competencia, la percepción que tienen ellos acerca del mar.
Finalmente, entregamos los Pasaportes Ciudadanos del Océano y un simbólico sombrero rojo Jacques Cousteau, con la respectiva explicación del simbolismo de ambos y cuál sería su tarea como nuevos embajadores y representantes del océano.

Punta del Diablo is a fishermen's village that has recently experienced summer tourism on its beach. 700 people live in the village where there's only one school welcoming 96 children from 5 to 12 years old.

In Genova, at the Acquario di Genova from 31st May to 8th June.
From 31st May to 8th June, along the exhibit area, free edutainment activities for Acquario di Genova visitors dedicated to biodiversity: “An Ocean of life”. Four travelling activities per day (starting at 11.00, 12.00, 14.30 and 15.30) and lasting 40 minutes, with interactive games for adults and children.
In Napoli, C.S.I. Gaiola Onlus will organise on June 8 workshops on marine ecosystem.

L’Aquarium de Bruxelles will celebrate the "Ocean of life" and the rivers from June 8 to 13. The young visitors will receive their Ocean Citizen Passport at the end of a game on biodiversity.
On Wednesday 9 and Saturday 12, at 2 pm, every person wearing palms and a diving mask will enter the aquarium free of charge and will attend the projection of the new film by Danny Van Belle (two times winner of the Golden Award in the Festival of Underwater Image in Antibes). The film will be shown in Dutch at 2 pm and in French at 3pm.
On Friday 11, the 100th birthday of Commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau will be celebrated. Wear a red cap on that special day and make people around you wear one too ! Discounts on the aquarium entrance fees.

Celebration of the World Oceans Day with an interactive stall set up in the London Zoo Aquarium.
We played our “Corals on the Edge” film on a large projected screen directly opposite our large coral reef tank and many children stopped to watch and listen to the conservation issues that were highlighted.

The event engaged many children, particularly from school groups, who had the opportunity to touch and hold coral skeletons, learn about seahorses whilst also getting coloring-in sheets and stickers to take home.
Over all the event was a great success and many teachers and parents gave positive feedback. This is definitely something we will be looking to do next year and will build on the success of this year.

At the Musée océanographique de Monaco, the general theme of World Oceans Day 2010 will be on "Mediterranean Sea and Biodiversity": an edutainment route in the museum is planned with specific environmental issues about the knowledge and the preservation of the sea resources whose biodiversity is exceptional and fragile. The IOI Caspian Sea will close a project begun the last year devoted to Biodiversity Protection. Students of Hydrobiology Deparment will present projects they have implemented. Best students will receive the Passport of the Citizen of the Ocean.
Projection of a film about protection of Caspian Seal and also ocean movies for children. This year, by decree of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Caspian Seal has been included into the book of endangered species.
Children will receive a colouring book prepared in cooperation with the University of Leeds within the framework of implementation of Darwin Initiative Project in the Caspian Sea. This event will take place into the Read hall of Astrakhan State Technical University. With ASTU Students and children of Astrakhan City schools. Representatives of IOI Caspian Sea will also participate at the celebration of Ocean Day in Beijing, China. Partner: State center of youth education.

World Oceans Day was held on June 8, 2010 in Vladivostok to raise participant’s awareness to the preservation of the ocean and environment. 150 pupils attended this event and received a Passport of the Citizen of the Ocean. This Passport has been translated into Russian by the Alliance Française of Vladivostok. The Institute of Biology of the Sea and the Research Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Vladivostok were also involved as partners in this project. The preparation of this World Oceans Day had started in January 2010 with the organization of a contest. 150 children participated and among them, 2 pupils were nominated and received gifts on behalf of the Institute of Biology of the Sea. Candidates had to submit a creation, an essay, a video on the following themes: "my discoveries with the sea" or "imagined adventures of Cousteau in the Primorié". This eco-cultural event has helped the Institute of Biology of the Sea to become a member of the World Ocean Network and most importantly, this project has received the price of ecology of the National Parliament of Russia. A Montpellier, l'Aquarium Mare Nostrum: Du vendredi 4 au mardi 8 juin 2010, l’aquarium Mare Nostrum s’est mobilisé afin de faire découvrir et comprendre le monde marin aux plus petits comme aux plus grands.
Dès le premier jour, les enfants ont été mis à l’honneur. A travers un « marché des connaissances » organisé en partenariat avec l’OCCE et le rectorat, plus de 180 élèves ont présentés les travaux qu’ils ont effectués tout au long de l’année.
Le samedi 5 et le dimanche 6 juin, l’aquarium Mare Nostrum proposait un « week-end de découverte scientifique ». De nombreux intervenants de l’Université Montpellier II et du CNRS ont fait du parcours de visite une véritable aventure à la découverte des richesses insoupçonnées de la mer.
En s’exportant sur la zone commerciale voisine, l’aquarium Mare Nostrum est parti à la rencontre du public en proposant des activités de plein air à la découverte des animaux du bord de mer.

During World Oceans Days, 8 classes of Marseilles have been rewarded for their work on maritime environment, especially on the Prado artificial reefs. In 2008, the Town of Marseilles immersed 400 artificial reefs of fish production, organised in 6 villages, to optimize the growing of marine depths of Marseilles South harbour. Organised by par Terre d’Avenir and with the support of local authorities, they are planned in 2010 in the frame of the international year of biodiversity. These World Oceans Days will make children discover underwater fauna and flora, nautical activities such as surfing sailing or scuba diving. Schools and leisure centres in different locations are the main public of this programme.

From 1st to 10 June 2010, The Earth, Water and Environent will be the big names of the 2nd Ekoclap festival organised by the Office De l’Eau - ODE and its partners.
The Syndrom of the Titanic by Nicolas Hulot, 3D with Voyage under the sea are in the programme and so are winners of the Ekoclap contest. Ekoclap is a free entrance festival of environmental films that are shown all around Martinique : Madiana (Schœlcher), CMAC (FdF), Jardin des Papillons (Carbet), Excelsior (Sainte Marie), Atlas (Anses d’Arlet).

The High School Mireille Choisy in Saint Barthelemy will organise World Oceans Day with the marine protected area. A large banderole will welcome the pupils and tell them that World Oceans Day takes place on June 8 every year.

Niijii Films have produced the documentary “A Sea Change”, which tells the story of ocean acidification. Based in Germantown, New York in the United States. For this World Oceans Day, official screenings will celebrate the day in multiple locations on three continents (at least). These screenings include Malta, Brazil, Portugal, Alaska, Spain and the continental United States.
