YOUTH CONTRIBUTIONS TO EUROPEAN MARITIME POLICY

Last year the European Commission issued a Green Paper on a Future Maritime Policy for the European Union http://ec.europa.eu/maritimeaffairs/policy_en.html including research, environment, transport, tourism, etc. and launched a public debate. The purpose was to examine and group all the existing EU activities linked to or with impact on the oceans, to maintain European resource base, and to continue being competitive in maritime affairs. The consultation started on 7^th June 2006 and ended on 30^th June 2007 .

The World Ocean Network participants and partners organised youth forums around World Ocean Day, June 8^th 2007 to obtain young Europeans recommendations regarding the Green Paper and future EU maritime policy.
